The Snaw-naw-as Education Department’s primary goal is to aid all eligible band members in achieving their academic goals. We wish to facilitate our programs in a holistic way that promotes self-determinism and incorporates language, culture, and traditional teachings wherever possible. Education plays a significant role in our development as a self-governing nation, as such, we also seek to increase both enrollment and graduation rates among our membership. Through education we hope to enable our students to find pride in their Indigenous identities and empower their sense of independence.

All those looking to apply for Post-Secondary funding are required to complete the application package below. If you have any questions or concerns about the application, please contact the Education Department Coordinator with the contact information at the bottom of the page.
Application checklist
Applications for post-secondary require the following documentation in order to be considered. Please complete the check-list to ensure that your application is complete. If you are currently enrolled in classes and you will be forwarding your transcripts as soon as they are available, please indicate the approximate date you will be forwarding them.
Letter of request explaining your long term and short term goals and your specific request for funding assistance including your specific budget request
Post-Secondary Application Form
A copy of registration form/acceptance letter and a copy of the College’s or University’s program from calendar. Please include a list of textbooks for your courses if you are requesting assistance with books and supplies
Transcript(s) or Anticipated date for forwarding transcripts
If you have special circumstances, such as a disability, please provide information. Some students require special assistance in addition to the usual supports provided. Students who may qualify for disability assistance form the post-secondary institution are usually required to show documentation that is dated within the past five years. If you have any questions in regards to this part of the application, please contact the NFN Education Coordinator. You may also wish to make an appointment with the disability services of the post-secondary institution in order to find out what services are available to students.

NFN Post-Secondary Student Support Program Application Package

We are responsible for oversight of the operating policy and guidelines of the the Post-Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP), as well as the University and College Entrance Preparation Program (UCEP). The Education Department administrates the PSSSP program according to its guidelines and provides funding for students who meet eligibility requirements based on available funding dollars. A student who is registered and attending an accredited college or university may be eligible to receive the following supports: books, supplies, living allowance, travel, and tuition depending on their individual circumstances.
Students may apply by fulfilling all application requirements listed in the Application Checklist in addition to any further application requirements for their program. Students planning to attend an approved program are required to submit their applications to the education coordinator no later than April 15th each year.
